Bone Broth Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg beef bones

  • 4 liters cold water

  • 2 onions, roughly chopped

  • 4 carrots, roughly chopped

  • 4 celery stalks, roughly chopped

  • 1 head of garlic, halved

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  2. Place the bones in a single layer on a baking tray and roast for 30 minutes until browned.

  3. In a large stockpot, add the bones, onions, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaves, apple cider vinegar, peppercorns, and salt. Cover with cold water.

  4. Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and let it cook for 12-24 hours.

  5. Skim off any foam or impurities that rise to the surface with a spoon or fine mesh strainer.

  6. Remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve and discard the solids.

  7. Transfer the broth to airtight containers and store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
